Choosing a Lift Company in Riyadh: Five Questions

You will deal with your lift for years, not for a day. So you are choosing a service partner, not buying a machine.

Five questions are enough to see who you are dealing with.

1. Is the quote written and itemised?

A written quote names the type, load, number of stops, finish and what the installation includes. A figure said aloud does not protect you.

If a company refuses to write it down, or insists on one total with no lines, treat that as a signal. And remember the real price comes after a site visit, so read what decides the price of a home lift.

2. Does the lift meet the technical regulation?

In Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) regulates electric lifts in buildings. Ask how the company's lift meets that regulation, and who carries out the inspection after installation.

A clear answer is a good sign. A dodge is a bad one. The details are in our article on licensing and inspection.

3. Where do the parts come from?

Ask where the machine, the control board and the doors come from. Are parts available locally if one needs replacing?

A lift waiting on a part that is not in stock can be out of service for weeks. A serious company knows where its parts come from.

4. What are the maintenance terms after handover?

Ask for the maintenance terms before you sign, not after. How many visits a year? What do they include? Are repairs covered?

See what a good contract holds in the annual maintenance contract and what it should cover.

5. How fast do they respond to a breakdown?

A lift can fail at the worst time. Ask how you reach them when it does, which hours they work, and how long a technician usually takes to arrive.

Be careful with a promise that has no limits. Ask for a clear answer, in writing, and check the working hours.

What backs up the answers

  • Past work you can see for yourself.
  • Real Google Maps reviews, with the reviewer's name and date.
  • Technicians who explain things plainly instead of dodging.

Do not judge by an advert. Judge by the answers.
